Corn On The Cob

As a 45 year old student in college, I feel a bit out of place. I'm aware that I'm not alone but I am somewhat of a minority. I do have the advantage of having more "life experiences" that has helped me with my classes, except for math! At least I'm done with my required math courses but classes based on social aspects have been easier.
I never thought I would attend college but Corn On The Cob (COTC) has so far been a positive experience. I tell my kids how important a college education can be. They would then point out that I never went to college so this is part of the reason for attending COTC. And I can also point out that they will not want to attend college as an old man such as myself.

  1. Corn on the Cob??!? Bwaaahahaha. I have never heard that before. You should be commended for going back and for being an example for your children.

  2. I agree with never have heard of corn on the cob! That is very funny. When I see older students around the college they almost inspire me and make me realize that it truly is never too late.

  3. I feel you Steve. There are days I wish colleges like COTC (Corn On The Cob -- brilliant!) had classes for 30 and above only. I enjoy my fellow students -- but we are the minority.

You should receive an honorary degree for your post title alone (o:. Good luck.

  4. I'm 24.. so far I've had classmates ranging from the ages of 19 to 45+.. Personally I think the age diversity is awesome. I feel that it offers a wide variety of perspective and experience to the class. Despite your age, you've taken the initiative to conquer the "insecurity" (for lack of a better word) of feeling like a minority, and I really admire that
